I am a passionate, crafty & creative person. I love sewing. I feel energised just looking at colourful threads and fabrics.
As it is rightly said "Experience is the Key to Success". I am proud to call myself a professional seamstress with over 30 years of experience and knowledge in the sewing industry.
I have an artistic understanding of garment construction and pattern making and customise the design to suit different body shapes and sizes. My knowledge of selecting types of fabric, colour scheme and combination reflects in my work. One will see in my sewing skills that I use multiple techniques and designs that trends in with latest fashion style.
Additionally, my patience and having an attention to details reflects my business when it comes to dealing with clients. I understand their requirements, and this makes the experience a smooth journey during the entire process
If you ask me how NIRMIT originated then let me share my journey how it all began….
Since childhood I had always been very keen in the craft work. I would use the resources that is available around me and preferred to make gifts for my friends and families rather than buying it from a shop. Everyone appreciated that as it was filled with my love. My parents recognized the potentials in me and engaged me in relevant courses for expertise.
As it is said that Marriage and Motherhood is an important phase in the life of every women, it changes her life forever. Not being an exception for this rule, even my life underwent a major change when I got married. I moved over to Melbourne, Australia. I started working here in a Financial Industry until I had my baby. Holding the little bundle of joy I decided that I wanted to raise him the way I was brought up. As time went by I realized that I need to give him more time and dedication and this would be difficult if I had to go back to work. During this phase, I enjoyed making my son’s clothes, bibs, cots sets and room decor stuff for his nursery. All this gave me a lot of pleasure as it was handmade. I used to get compliments for the uniqueness in my work. Soon the artist in me gained recognition. I then decided to take up this hobby seriously into profession.
Being brought up in Indian background, I was excited and enthusiastic to get to know the art and culture of Australia. I not only gained more knowledge and upgraded my skills about sewing, crafts and business in this country but also got an opportunity to show my talent and potentials here.
My visits to various craft shows, seminars, fairs, observation of works by great artists and travel to places in India as well as abroad have greatly inspired me and have had an immense effect on my work.
After giving a serious thought “NIRMIT” came into existence. NIRMIT is a Hindi word which means “Creation”. I also chose this name because
it’s the combination of mine and my husband’s name NIRALI – MITESH.
Working from home seems to be the best option to me as I can have flexibility and maintain a work life balance, fulfil my dreams and showcase my talent.
A cup of masala chai and my favourite music playing in background stimulates me to work continuously. My aim is to bring to you some unique products that showcase fusion of both traditional and modern designs.
Today I can say MY WORK - IS MY PASSION & MY PASSION - IS MY WORK. Now I feel sky is the limit !!!
